The following method is to buy electricity from a prepaid electricity meter.
1. Find the prepaid meter in your apartment. It is usually located in or close to the switchboard
2. There will be a meter number located on the meter. This is a unique number allocated to your prepaid meter.
3. To purchase the electricity, you can go onto your banking app on your phone. Find a section called transactions and, in this section, you will find a button that reads “Buy Electricity”. Click on this button. If you have not added a beneficiary, then you can click on “Add Beneficiary.” In here you can add your meter number and the equivalent information and then continue with the normal payment method.
4. You will receive a token and with this token you will need to add it into your prepaid meter. This is going to be a 20-pin token.
5. All you need to do now is to check whether the electricity has been successfully loaded.

1. Don’t always assume that a power outage means that there is loadshedding. First determine whether it is loadshedding by looking outside your place to see whether the neighbors have their lights on or whether the streetlights are on. If all of these are off, then it means that you have loadshedding if this is not the case follow the next few steps
2. After this you can go to your prepaid meter and check whether you still have electricity left. If there is no more electricity left, you can recharge it by following the steps at “How do I buy prepaid electricity?”
3. Locate your circuit breaker. In here you can check whether there was power trip. If any locate which switches are turned off and flip, then back on. What could also help is to switch the main power switch off and then back on again.
4. Another problem that can occur is that there may be a short circuit or electrical surges. This means that the outage could have happened because to many power-hungry utilities have been in use at the same time. For example, the toaster, kettle and oven ran at the same time. Try unplugging these utilities and then trying step 3 again

1. Identify the problem that needs to be addressed, whether it's a leaking faucet, broken appliance, or another issue, and make note of when you first noticed it.
2. Check your lease or rental agreement to see if there are specific instructions on how to report maintenance issues or request repairs.
3. Contact your real estate agent (their number can be found at emergency numbers section at the top of the document) and provide a clear description of the problem, including its location and how long it has been an issue. If possible, attach photos or videos to help illustrate the problem.
4. Request a confirmation that your report has been received and is being processed. If you don’t receive a response within 24-48 hours, follow up with another message or phone call.
5. Schedule the repair at a time that works for you. If you won’t be home, provide access instructions to the property manager or real estate agent.
6. Prepare for the repair by making sure the area that needs attention is accessible and secure any valuables if you won’t be home during the repair.
7. Follow up after the repair is completed to ensure the issue has been properly resolved. If the problem persists, contact your real estate agent or property manager immediately.
8. Keep records of all communications, photos, and any paperwork related to the maintenance request, and note the completion date and any additional instructions given by the repair person.
9. Understand your rights as a tenant, especially if the issue is serious and not addressed in a timely manner, as you may have the right to take further action.
10. Evaluate future prevention by asking the repair person or real estate agent if there’s anything you can do to prevent the issue from happening again and consider requesting routine maintenance checks if applicable.
