What’s on this March

This March there are some exciting events going on both in-person and online. We are also happy to be back on lockdown level one.  Have a look to see what’s on offer.

Kamers / Makers

From 24th – 28 March South Africa’s favourite pop-up market of handcrafted creativity,  Kamers / Makers, will be held at Blaauwklippen Estate. They will be open daily from 9am – 5pm, and open until 7pm on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are R60 online and R80 at the door. Don’t forget – you can find their amazing products in their online shop too.

Spier Light Art

From 19 March – 18 April 2021 the popular Spier Light Art will be in full swing. The Spier Farm will be lit up with artworks with a variety of light, sound and video. Some of the works on show will be Lume by Egbert Westra and The Singing Tree by The Willow Collective.

Lume is described as “an interactive installation where visitors can use their cell phone’s flashlight to create images on a phosphorescent screen alongside Lucy, a light painting robot.”*

The Singing Tree is an “interactive piece that combines light, music and technology with design and motion”. The music and lights around the public will begin to change according to their position within the tree*.  Remember to secure your (free) spot by booking here.

Rupert Museum

On 7 March 2021 The Rupert Museum is hosting an Oyster and Bubbly experience with Ramon Alexander. From the My Grundig Lounge installation by Sam Nhlengethwa, guests can listen to a solo performance by composer and pianist Ramon Alexander. Tickets cost R480 and include oysters from The Mussel Monger & Oyster bar, and bubbly from L’Ormarins. Book your ticket here.

Colour Conference

The ever popular Colour Conference will be live streaming on 12 & 13 March 2021. This year the speakers are Bobbie Houston, Christine Caine, Lisa Bevere and Earl & Oneka McClellan. You can view the programme here. Get your ticket online now. You will be able to watch replays until 31 May 2021.

Don’t forget – the first term at the University of Stellenbosch starts on the 15th of March.
