Spoil yourself at Delaire Graff

Spoil yourself at Delaire Graff

Tucked away on the Helshoogte Pass, Delaire Graff Estate offers much to its visitors and is definitely a place to visit.

Named “The Jewel of the Cape Winelands”, Delaire Graff is the vision of British jeweller Laurence Graff. The first thing that amazes one is the exquisite view of the Stellenbosch and Franschhoek mountains, as well as the immaculate gardens – designed by landscape artist Keith Kirsten. The estate offers a mixture of excellent wine, art, cuisine, accommodation and spa experiences.

Delaire boasts two restaurants: Indochine and the Delaire Graff Restaurant. Indochine, as the name suggests, caters for an Indo-Asian cuisine under the talent of head chef Virgil Kahn. Choose from the A la carte menu, or the very accessible Spring Tasting Menu, that fuses Cape Malay with Asian influences. You can also choose to do an excellent wine pairing with the latter. Indochine’s interior is exquisite, especially with the Swallows In Flight art installation that fills the room. Delaire Graff Restaurant offers al fresco dining, with both an a la carte and tasting menu.

Art from the personal collection of Laurence Graff is dotted inside and outside on the estate – featuring more than 400 pieces. Graff is considered one of the world’s best art collectors. There is a pronounced love for art from Africa, with sculptures from Anton Smit, Lionel Smit and Dylan Lewis. Other renowned South African artists include William Kentridge, Deborah Bell and Sydney Kumalo. An interesting anecdote: one of Graff’s first art purchases was a small Renoir that he bought in the 70s. Do not miss out on the stunning Chinese Girl from Vladimir Tretchikoff that you will find at reception.

Named one of the Top 50 wineries in the world, the wine produced at Delaire Graff is exceptional – under the hand of winemaker Morné Vrey. Wine tasting can be done in their Wine Lounge, with three different tasting options. Enjoy your wine with platters of snacks, either in the art-filled lounge or sit outside to enjoy the view. Wine tasting operates on a first-come first served basis, so be sure to get there early. For a look at the large variety of wines available, see their online shop.

With an Afro-Asian spa twist, you can enjoy relaxing spa treatments with a majestic view. For spa package and lodge guests there is also an infinity pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room available. Have a look at their Spring Spa Menu and spoil yourself.

With much to offer and easily accessible, a visit to Delaire Graff and its variety of experiences is definitely on the to-do list.
