As we near the end of the year, and we see longer periods of excellent weather, there are a lot of exciting things to do and experience. Over the month of November, you can look out for the following:
This Friday, make your way to Lourensford in Somerset West. Dubbed the “ultimate night market experience in the Winelands”, the Twilight Market is back, with quality food and artisanal goods to buy – and entry is free. Join from 17h00 – 21h00 – you can build a picnic with goods bought from the 60 permanent stalls and enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine. If you cannot join on Friday evening, don’t worry – the market is open Saturday & Sunday from 10h00 – 15h00. Since it’s all under a built structure, the weather is not a worry.
Galileo Picnic – A Star is Born
While some Galileo experiences are still in drive-in form, this Saturday the classic Galileo experience is back: at Lourensford you can once again sit outside on the lawn, have a picnic and watch an epic movie. Food can be bought from the artisanal market stalls. There are various levels of tickets available, with added options of blankets, backrests and popcorn. The movie, A Star is Born, stars Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in a romantic musical, where Cooper’s character falls in love with struggling artist Ally (played by Gaga). It’s the 4th remake of the 1937 film, and has won a number of awards and nominations. Book your tickets now.
Ride-In Wine Tasting to #SupportStellenbosch
Wednesday 18 November sees popular hangout, Ride-In, in Jonkershoek hosting a wine tasting from various top-notch Stellenbosch wine estates: Lanzerac, Thelema, Muratie, Le Pommier, and Glennelly, as part of the #SupportStellenbosch initiative. Ride-In will be selling pizzas and burgers during the event, which starts at 18h00. Tickets cost R150 and must be pre-booked. Your ticket includes wine tasting, wine sales at cellar door prices, and a branded wine glass. Don’t miss out, book here.
The Christmas festive spirit already starts in November. A Stellenbosch institution, the Stellenbosch Kersmark, hosted by the NG Kerk Stellenbosch Sentraal, is open from 25 November – 5 December. There will once again be 180 stalls of quality art, handwork, baked goods and more – for both the young and the old(er). Entry is free and everyone is welcome – it’s a great way for some family time and to support local traders. Get some Christmas shopping done while enjoying some home baked goods.
