Exceptional Stellenbosch Solidarity

Exceptional Stellenbosch Solidarity

Much is known and written about the devastating effects that Covid-19 and the subsequent lockdown has had on our residents and businesses. Yet, Stellenbosch is not to be underestimated. #SupportStellenbosch has been an incredible and innovative initiative responding to the crisis.

The sense of solidarity is a consequence of various institutions working together: the Stellenbosch Municipality, the University of Stellenbosch and Wesgro. The initiative is based on three prongs: visitors supporting local businesses, experiencing our town and then spreading the wonderful experience they had with others around the world.

The campaign consists of:

SupportStellenbosch Restaurant Rewards Campaign:

Since 5 September 2020, dining in town has been rewarding for both patrons and restaurant owners. With the help of SnapScan, patrons get a voucher worth 50% of their bill*, that they can use for their next meal at the same or any other participating restaurant. Some of the best local restaurants are part of this initiative, such as Del’Aire Graaff, De Warenmarkt, Lanzerac, Fat Butcher, Ouwe Werf, and Guardian Peak. For the full list, and to book, visit this link *Conditions apply.

SupportStellenbosch Accommodation:
With a variety of different styles of accommodation available, there is for sure something that will suit your taste. Participating accommodation has been discounted by 50%, by institutions that include Bonne Esperance Guest House, Eendracht Hotel, Majeka House, Coopmanhuijs Boutique Hotel, Ouwe Werf and Lanzerac. With the lovely spring weather, it’s a great time for visitors to spend a couple of nights at these reputed establishments and experience the best our town has to offer. Get more information here.

SupportStellenbosch Experiences:
Locals know how much there is to experience in our town. The experiences that form part of SupportStellenbosch include wine tasting and wine pairing, bike rides, art tours, spas, horse riding and more – all at exceptionally low prices, but offering high-value experiences. For a more inclusive deal, there are also the SupportStellenbosch Packages, where accommodation bookings are paired with two R100 experience vouchers.

SupportStellenbosch On Stage Concert:

September 24 is a date not to be missed: the SupportStellenbosch On Stage concert, featuring popular acts such as Laurika Rauch, Stuart Taylor, and the University of Stellenbosch choir, aims to raise funds for humanitarian aid, local businesses, artists and more. Tickets cost R130, but includes a R100 SnapScan voucher that can be redeemed at various business such as De Warenmarkt, Fidders and De Vrije Burger.
