Exciting events to support & enjoy

There are some great entertaining and informative events coming up, that also support local businesses. Have a look and don’t forget to buy your tickets!

Stellenbosch on Stage

On 29 August at 19:00, popular Afrikaans rock and alternative band Spoegwolf will be playing an online show, in association with Eendracht Hotel and Apartments, Stellenbosch Wine Routes and Tasting Stellenbosch. Tickets cost R130, of which R100 comes in the form of a Snapscan voucher, that you can redeem at selected Stellenbosch restaurants and businesses – all in solidarity to Support Stellenbosch. The online show will be available to stream from 29 August to 6 September. Tickets can be purchased via Computicket. Something else to look forward to: on 24 September the University of Stellenbosch’s Alumni Concert will be in full swing, with favourites such as Laurika Rauch and the famous Stellenbosch University Choir performing.

South African Independent Film Festival

From 14-30 August the South African Independent Film Festival will be hosting online all its video content, unreleased movies, short films and documentaries from all over the world. A highlight of the festival is local film, Fiela se Kind, that has been awarded a SAFTA. There will also be online interviews, Q&As and masterclasses for those who want to learn more about the film industry. There are different ticket passes to choose from:  gold, silver, bronze and a single feature or short film selection ticket. The judging panel includes industry heavyweights such as Neil Marshall (episode writer for Game of Thrones) and Hakeem Kae-Kazim (actor from Black Sails).

Comedy with Marc Lottering

Famous South African comedian, Marc Lottering, returns with another online comedy show, aptly titled, ANOTHER ONE! With new stand-up material as well as his old favourite alter ego’s, the show will be streamed live from Spier’s Auditorium. At R70 a ticket, you can watch the show from the comfort of your home, or enjoy being part of the live audience. There are various packages that you can choose from: enjoy dinner and the show, or even the show with dinner, an overnight stay at Spier and a complimentary breakfast. The show will be available online from 29 August at 19:30 to 5 September 20:30.

If you want to enjoy a day out:

Kirstenbosch has opened all its trails, as well as its Tea Room – where you can enjoy, amongst others, a high tea in one of the most beautiful settings. With the ban on alcohol lifted, be sure to support our local wine farms.
