As we move down another level of lockdown, more experiences are open to us again. We are also happy that many industries and sectors are able to trade again and jumpstart the economy. Under level 3, we are especially excited about and grateful for:
One of the lifeblood industries of Stellenbosch and its surrounds, being able to once again buy our favourite wines and support our wine farms is something we very much looked forward to. You can either browse your local liquor or wine store, or order online from the different wine farms’ websites. Maybe head on over to Post Card Café in Jonkershoek to buy Stark Conde wines and take a stroll on the estate with their spectacular mountain view. Or, take a drive to Babylonstoren’s Farm Shop to purchase their famous wines.
Having the exercise curfew extended has meant more freedom of movement. It’s also great news that certain sections of the Table Mountain National Park are open – making hiking a wonderful activity to do. Areas that remain closed however are Boulders Beach, Cape Point, Silvermine Gate 1 and 2, Upper Tokai, and all picnic sites. If you are close to a public or private game reserve, you can enjoy a self-drive or a hike.
More retailers open
Another sigh of relief for businesses (and customers) is having most retailers open. We can now pop into Okasie and smell the roses, buy books from Verbatim, get our favourite scones from the Lanzerac Deli, and expand our winter wardrobe at our favourite clothing stores.
Real estate agents open
Though having been able to operate virtually during full lockdown, real estate agents are now able to open their physical doors, and can resume both residential and commercial activities. In-person viewings are permitted and you are now able to move into your new residence (under certain conditions). Nevertheless, you can still do virtual viewings if you feel more comfortable doing so. Have a look at this infographic that explains real estate agencies’ safety protocols:
Though we are very glad for these adaptations in regulations, it is still imperative that we honour all safety protocols and procedures. Always wear a mask, sanitise and wash your hands often and maintain the proper social distance.
