Looking back on 2019 with thanksgiving

As our American friends pull out all the stops for their Thanksgiving feast, we also look back on 2019 and reflect with gratitude on some of the amazing things that happened this year:

  • Rugby World Cup win:

Who can forget the moment Siya Kolisi lifted the Webb Ellis trophy in Japan? Once again we saw the unifying power of sport and we’re proud to be South African.

  • Royal tour to Cape Town:

We watched with excitement the Duke & Duchess of Sussex’s trip to South Africa, and especially Cape Town. It was a great honour having them tour our region and acknowledging and advocating the various charities and good work being done here.

  • Fuller dams:

Water restrictions might feel like a distant memory, but it was a worrisome time. Luckily throughout the year we saw good rainfall and now the current level of our dams are at 83.9% (according to the Western Cape government). We feel very blessed for the increase in water we now have.

  • Working with Nicole Capper on the MaxiRace:

Teaming up with Mrs South Africa 2018, Nicole Capper, on the MaxiRace was fun and inspiring. Seeing her take on the gruelling trail running race in support of Rare Diseases South Africa made for a memorable event.

  • Agent of the Year:

The anticipation of who will be Anna Basson Properties’ agent of the year is always exciting. To make the event special, the team got spoiled this year at Babylonstoren, where the announcement was made. Well done to Liezl Schoeman who is the agent of the year for 2019.

  • Announcement of Stellenbosch Triennale:

It is with much excitement that we look forward to the Stellenbosch Triennale happening next year. Having it in Stellenbosch will put local art, and the town, on an international stage.

These are only but a few things on our gratitude list. We look forward with much anticipation to what 2020 holds!
