This past weekend, Anna Basson Properties was witness to one of the most amazing races in the world.
On 5 and 6 October, the Cape Winelands hosted the MaXiRace right on our doorstep.
This race has its origins in Annecy, France, and is run in only 6 countries worldwide – with South Africa being one of them – it’s first this year.
This trail running race covers different distances – from 20km up to 100km. It’s not for the faint-hearted, and will push your endurance, but comes with breathtaking views and exquisite landscapes. Running from Franschhoek over the mountains into Stellenbosch, you are bound to be amazed by nature.
Anna Basson Properties teamed up with Mrs South Africa 2018, Nicole Capper, and invited her to participate in the MaXiRace. Nicole isn’t new to the running scene – she’s scaled Kilimanjaro, Everest and Mont Blanc.
Part of the appeal of the MaXiRace is the emphasis on community development. Local businesses are supported and partnerships with charities such as Edunova and the WWF have been established.
Each entrant is encouraged to start fundraisers for a charity of their choice – and for Nicole, it’s one close to her heart: she is an advocate for Rare Diseases South Africa, as one of her children was diagnosed with a rare, life-limiting disease.
As Nicole explains, her mission has become to analyse her fears, overcome them and live life to the full.
The MaxiRace will definitely push you to your edge, but it will make for a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
We look forward to being part of it next year!
